Introduction

The Dr. Bill Atchley Papers contain personal records primarily from the period when he served as President of Clemson University, 1979-1985. Until 1996, access to the collection was restricted to researchers who had received Dr. Atchley's permission.

Scope and Content The papers document much of Senator Brown's political life in the Democratic Party at the county, state, and national levels. He served at the national level as executive committeeman, as a delegate to conventions, and as a long time representative on the Council of State Governments. Introduction

T. Wilbur "Buddy" Thornhill, was a South Carolinian, a Clemson graduate, a Captain in World War I, a business man, and public servant. He was always interested in educational, agricultural, and industrial development for South Carolina. These interests and his activities qualified him for his position on Clemson's Board of Trustees.

Scope and Content Note The records of the Office of the Vice President for Administration consist almost exclusively of material created during 1985-1992 when General Hugh Clausen served in this position. The series consists of subject files related to the Vice President's activities and is arranged alphabetically by folder title.
