The records from the Alester G. Furman Company consist of files documenting the sale of real estate, primarily residential housing, by textile manufacturing companies during 1945-1970. Scope and Contents
The materials in the collection span from 1920 to 1985, with a few photographs of Courtenay and early Mill life from as early as 1899. The collection consists primarily of clippings and photographs of Newry, South Carolina collected by Henry Cater. The collection also includes photocopies of Mill baseball game rosters from the 1920s and some original pay stub envelopes from the 1930s and one from 1950. As a graduate student working in the Clemson University Libraries Special Collections, Mr. McKown collected these photographs while creating an exhibit, mounted in the Robert M.
