Furman Company consist of files documenting the sale of real estate, primarily residential housing, by textile manufacturing companies during 1945-1970. The Furman Company served as the broker for the sale of real estate which, with respect to the residential housing, in most cases was sold to the mill workers. Scope and Content Note The J.P. Stevens and Co., Inc., Records span 110 years from 1879-1989, with the bulk of the materials falling within the 1930s to the 1960s. The majority of the records are financial ledgers documenting the monthly flow of assets of the company. There are also stockholders reports (1946-1987) and yearly financial statements (1946-1947, 1949-1959, 1961-1987). Scope and Contents As a graduate student working in the Clemson University Libraries Special Collections, Mr. McKown collected these photographs while creating an exhibit, mounted in the Robert M.
