Scope and Contents The collection contains books, correspondence, miscellaneous papers and photographs gathered by Mary Conrad Stevenson, former head of Cataloging in the Clemson University Library, who began her research in 1959 and again in 1974. Two copies of a book entitled, A History of the Calhoun Monument at Charleston, S.C., in which there are handwritten annotations, are also included in the collection. Surles, as well as a January 17, 1968 memo from Mary Stevenson, Clemson University Libraries, concerning the authorship of the book.
