Scope and Contents The journal consists of entries from 1762-1766, arranged chronologically by month and year. Beneath the months the entries include the purchaser, the items purchased and their cost. In front of the purchaser's entry are large numbers and sometimes small numbers: the large numbers may have to do with a cross posting in another account book and the small numbers may be dates of the month. During his one year term as its president in 1941, working with the South Carolina Library Asociation, a major effort was made to introduce legislation which would establish 4 statewide library systems. Abstract The provenance of these papers is unknown, but in 1927 Dr. William Hayne Mills, a Clemson College professor, asked Mr. W. A. James, Secretary of the South Carolina State Grange, to prepare a history of the South Carolina Grange. Mr. James prepared a short history using an original volume of minutes.
