Most of this series consists primarily of notes Adlai Yates took from the census records of 1790 - 1900. These census notes are divided into counties within each state. The level of information for each census year varies from state to state. The majority of the census material pertains to Louisiana but there is also information on Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

In addition, a very small amount of census data can be found on Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Some cemetery records are also included in this series. These cemetery records mainly focus on Louisiana, but there is a little information regarding cemeteries in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, South Carolina and Texas.
