These papers contain materials from two works that Professor McKale was involved with writing and editing: "Destined for Duty: The Clemson Class of 1941" and "Tradition: A History of the Presidency of Clemson University.

The material corresponding to "Destined for Duty: The Clemson Class of 1941" includes correspondence, index research cards with information taken from The Tiger newspaper publication (1937-1945), miscellaneous research notes, and questionnaires that were sent to members of the Clemson College class of 1941.

Material related to Tradition: A History of the Presidency of Clemson University includes caricatures by Kate Sally Palmer depicting Clemson University founder and presidents Thomas Green Clemson through Max Lennon, biographical research regarding members of the Clemson Board of Trustees, correspondence, manuscript draft chapters, news clippings, and a final copy of the published manuscript.
