NPS Director Series, 1972 - 1977, bulk: bulk, 1974-1977
Scope and Contents
The material in the series was created during Everhardt’s tenure as National Park Service Director and his short stint as Special Assistant to the Director after his resignation. The majority of the series is made up of letters of congratulation on his appointment as Director, correspondence concerning his resignation, and his chronological files. The chronological files contain correspondence and memoranda relating to appointments, employees, management and planning, and issues at various parks. The series also contains material relating to the National Park Service budget and Everhardt’s testimony before Congress. A small amount of personal correspondence is also included in this series as well as a folder of correspondence to and from former National Park Service Director Ron Walker. The items in the series date from 1972 to 1977, with most of the files dating from 1974-1977. Material in this series is arranged alphabetically by folder title.
The series contains very little regarding planning for the U.S. Bicentennial although there is a little material about various events held in conjunction with it.
