There are photographs of Thurmond with astronauts, entertainers, government officials, military officers, politicians, etc. Among the individuals appearing in this series are: Presidents Harry S. Truman through George Bush; Astronaut Alan Shepard; and foreign heads of state such as Anwar el-Sadat of Egypt and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Other individuals include James F. Byrnes, Barry Goldwater, Fritz Hollings, Herbert Hoover, Herman... Talmadge, and Prince Charles of Great Britain. Some of the photographs were autographed by the individuals when they gave the photographs to Thurmond. There are photographs of Strom Thurmond attending conferences and conventions (such as the 1968 Republican National Convention in Miami, Florida), and taking trips to the Far East, Iran and Italy. Of special interest are photographs of the Anwar Sadat Funeral Trip in 1981. In addition, there are photographs of his visits to military bases such as Fort McPherson (Atlanta, Georgia), Fort Jackson (Columbia, South Carolina) and Edwards Air Force Base (California)
