The collection spans the years 1931-1990, with bulk years 1950-1975. This collection has been arranged into two series; business and personal.

Following the death of his father in 1943, Francis Hipp became president and chairman of the board of Liberty Life Insurance Company. Hipp oversaw rapid growth of the company that soon became a multi-billion dollar a year industry. The Francis Hipp Papers document his activities as both a business executive and civic leader.
