The files of this collection contain additional material documenting the growth and development of Cosmos Broadcasting Corporation and, its predecessor, The Broadcasting Company of the South. There are 147 folders of material in ten document boxes totaling 3 cubic feet of material. Dates span a period of time from 1939 to 1986. Documentation includes reports, meeting minutes, sale of stock, national standards of practice for broadcasters, WAVE-TV programming, and sale and closing of WIST-Radio & TV for The Broadcasting Company of the South; and meeting minutes, financial statements, long-range plans, proposed budgets, stockholder reports, files pertaining to Cosmos Broadcasting of Louisiana and Cosmos Cablevision Corporation/Cox-Cosmos, and WIS-Radio & TV, WCSC-Radio, WSFA-TV, WQXI-Radio, and WTOL-TV records. In particular, this addition contains supplemental documentation concerning The Broadcasting Company of the South, Community Antenna Television/Cable Television (CATV), Cosmos Cablevision, Cox-Cosmos Incorporated, the Federal Communications Commission, WDSU-TV, WIS-Radio & WIS-TV, WSFA-TV, and WTOL-TV.
