Scope and Contents

The collection contains two scrapbooks with texts and pictures of old houses in or near the village of Cokesbury in Greenwood County, South Carolina. The pictures are both photographs and drawings by the author. Correspondence between Mr. Moore and the Clemson library regarding duplication of the photos is also included.

Mr. Moore produced drawings or took pictures of old homes in the vicinity of Cokesbury. The names of the occupants of the houses are provided when known, dating from the period of the 1830's until the recent past.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

John W. Moore made these papers available for duplication in 1960. The originals were returned to him after four copies had been made. The collection contains two of the copies. Accession 61-5.

Existence and Location of Copies

The Greenwood County Historical Society has a copy of the drawings, hand lettered descriptions and photos. Greenwood, South Carolina, 1960.
