The collection contains four items: a "minute" book which contains the constitution, by-laws and minutes of the meetings of the Pendleton Cornet Band from 1876-1878; The Pendleton Cornet cash book from 1876-1890; a negative of a picture of the Pendleton Cornet Band Wagon; and a copy of a May 27, 1962 newsclipping about the band from the Anderson Independent.
The Pendleton Cornet band was formed on March 10, 1876 in Pendleton, South Carolina and disbanded in 1890. The band played in surrounding towns for a fee. It also played in Columbia when Wade Hampton was inaugurated governor in 1876.
