Calhoun, Noble and Pickens Families Collection

 Collection — Box: 1
Identifier: Mss-0225

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of clippings, original and photocopied correspondence, original and photocopied typed notes/transcripts and photography of a resolution collected by Kathryn Calhoun Hill and all relating to the genealogy of the Calhoun, Noble and Pickens families. A June 30, 1970 clipping from the Southwest Virginia Enterprise of Wytheville concerns the presentation of a marker for the grave of Ezekiel Calhoun by Hill. Most of the correspondence relates to the Clemson University Libraries; some of the other correspondence gives brief sketches of her family history. The typed notes/transcripts are of articles from various genealogical publications and transcriptions of clippings and original documents (family bible records, inventories, letters, will, etc.) either found in various archival repositories or owned by Hill. The February 8, 1971 resolution, introduced in the Texas State Senate by Wayne W. Connally in 1971, honors John C. Calhoun; a photocopy of a March 22, 1971 transmittal letter from Connally to Hill and a February 9, 1971 clipping from the Austin American regarding the resolution accompany it.
