McCaul), September 11, 1913; the Foreign Mission Journal, v. 64, no. 3 (September 1913); a handwritten September 11, 1913 cornerstone list; two newspapers, Baptist Courier, September 11, 1913 and The State, September 10, 1913; a handwritten list of members of the Clemson College Baptist Church, ca. 1912-1913; a "List of Churches Organized or Aided by the State Mission Board," 1912; a photoengraving of pastor T.V. McCaul; a handwritten historical sketch of Clemson College Baptist Church by a church clerk, November 15, 1912; and an official corporate name change certificate, 1970.
In 1907 it was determined that a church should be founded for Clemson College students and families belonging to the Baptist denomination. By 1912 work had begun on the structure. T.V. McCaul of Virginia was given pastoral duties. Clemson College Baptist Church held its first services on April 6, 1913. In 1970, the church officially changed its name to First Baptist Church of Clemson.
