Biographical / Historical

Albert Neill Cameron, Sr. was born near Waycross, Georgia on October 9, 1915. In 1925, he and his family moved to Savannah, Georgia. He attended Chatham Junior High and Savannah High School. He enrolled at Clemson in 1937. He received a B.S. degree in civil engineering in 1941. After graduation, Cameron served in the U.S. Army with combat infantry battalions in the United States, Germany, France, and Austria. After the war, he was employed with the U.S. Department of Interior Geological Survey for thirty five years at the national headquarters, and also served as chief of the Louisiana and Georgia districts. He was awarded with the U.S. Department of Interior Medal for Meritorious Service. Cameron is a member of the Tiger Letterman's Association, a contributor to the Clemson Fund, and a member of IPTAY. Cameron and his first wife, Jane Ashley Cameron (passed away in 2001), had four children: Kathryn, Neill, Emily, and Sally. He married Vanna Montgomery in 2002.
