This series contains the speeches and press releases of Robert C. Edwards, Vice-President for Development, 1956-1958; Acting President, 1958-1959; and President of Clemson University, 1959-1979. The speeches fall into the general categories of agriculture, Clemson University, education, organizations, society, and South Carolina. The topics include building dedications at Clemson, the state of agriculture in South Carolina and associated economic problems, the state of education and progress in the field, and the threat of communism to America. Edwards delivered the speeches to student groups, professional societies, organizations at the state and national level, for example, the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs, the Clemson Women's club, the South Carolina Seed Association, and the Baltimore-Washington Clemson Club.
