Reports to the President

 Collection
Identifier: Series-0015

Scope and Contents

This series contains reports of deans and directors to the President of the University. It covers a time span from 1929 to 1956, with most of the reports occurring in the 1940s and 1950s. The majority of the reports, Annual Reports from the various departments at the college, follow this format: a "General Report" that summarizes the achievements and failures of a particular department; "Resignations and Appointments," which lists the names and positions of both faculty and staff members who resigned or were appointed for a job that year; "Salary Changes," which lists the names and salaries of those people who received a raise or cut in salary, as was the case during the Depression; "Recommendations and Suggestions," which states the recommendations made by the Dean to improve his particular department or the entire College; "New Positions Needed," a list of positions that needed to be made, usually due to the rapid growth of the student body; "which list salaries of faculty and staff.

Other reports cover such topics as cadets' grades and discipline, lists of candidates not eligible for graduation, preliminary bulletins, sanitary conditions of the college, lists of books donated to the library, vocational education teacher training at Clemson College, monthly meetings of deans and directors of the college, "The National Food Situation" and "Expanding and Improving Crop and Livestock Statistics."
