This series contains the records of the Dean of the School of Industrial Management and Textile Science. The records consist of departmental correspondence and memoranda, photographs, publications, and weavings (done by students). The files, which are arranged alphabetically by topic, span the years 1951-1975, the bulk occurring 1962-1969. Prominent correspondents with Wallace D. Trevillian, Dean, included textile mill executives, Clemson University administrators and faculty, and officers of professional societies and organizations.
Documented in the series are liaison activities between Clemson and the textile industry, developments in textile education, and activities of faculty in various professional societies and associations. During these years the School began to offer educational seminars for textile executives; these seminars evolved into the Professional Development program. Also begun during this time were courses in textile marketing which were aimed toward executives in the textile industry. For several years, beginning in 1968, Clemson University hosted the Textile Marketing Forum, which featured nationally recognized leaders in the fields of fashion, textile design, and advertising.
