Scope and Content Note

The majority of the collection consists of documents, but it also includes photographs, ledgers, floor plans, audiocassettes, and oversize material.

The bulk of the correspondence is that of library directors Cornelia Graham, Gordon Gourlay, Joe Boykin, and associate library director Richard Meyer.

The material in the collection covers the period 1893-1995, with most of the collections dating from 1932-1990.

This collection is organized into five subseries, as follows: Administrative; Committees/Commissions/Task Forces/Groups; Units/Branches; Publications and Ephemeral Material; Memorabilia/Oversize/Collected/Photographs/Audio.

The records are arranged chronologically by series, and alphabetically within each subseries with one exception. Part of the Administrative files are arranged by an alphanumeric code.

Particular topics of interest in this collection are Clemson University Libraries, activities of library committees, library faculty and staff, library automation, construction of library building, and library reorganization.

Major correspondents include Cornelia Graham, Gordon Gourlay, Joe Boykin, Richard Meyer.

Linda Ferry, Archivist III; Student Assistants Amanda Becker, Lindsay Hemingway, Chris Holtzendorff, Julie New, Paige Thurmond, Mike Tucker. Processing began in September 2000 and the finding aid was completed in July 2002.

The conversion of this finding aid to Encoded Archival Description format was made possible with a grant from the South Carolina State Historical Records Advisory Board in 2009-2010. The finding aid was prepared for encoding by Jen Bingham.
