Scope and Content Note

This series contains a collection of theses and papers that relate to topics in textile science, management and agriculture. The collection was maintained in the Sirrine Library of the College of Commerce and Industry until 1989 when the library closed.

Of the 698 titles, 579 were written by seniors who completed course requirements in the departments of agricultural engineering, agronomy, animal husbandry, dairy, entomology, general science, horticulture and zoology. The remainder, 119 titles, were written by graduate students who completed their degrees in civil engineering, industrial management, management, marketing, textile chemistry, textile science, and textiles.

The theses and senior papers were written 1907-1984.

Arrangement

The material is listed in alphabetical order by the author's last name. Theses in boxes 3, 4, 5, 6 and 34 are bound together by year.

Provenance

These theses and papers originated with the Department of Textiles, the Department of Industrial Management, and the College of Industrial Management and Textile Science. They were received from the Sirrine Library when it disbanded in 1990. The theses were accessioned as 90-107.

Processing Information

Student assistant Hope Brown arranged and processed the series. The finding aid was completed in October 2004.

The conversion of this finding aid to Encoded Archival Description format was made possible with a grant from the South Carolina State Historical Records Advisory Board in 2009-2010. The finding aid was prepared for encoding by Carl Redd.

Jen Bingham updated the list and added the theses in boxes 3 and 4 in May 2011.
