This series contains the records of the Department of Animal Pathology. The records consist of correspondence, meeting minutes, memoranda, newsletters and reports. Also included in the collection are photographs. Prominent correspondents include R.E. Wright, Associate Professor of Animal Pathology and Extension Veterinarian; Bruce Glick, Head of the Department of Poultry Science; and Milton B. Wise, Vice President and Vice Provost for Agriculture and Natural Resources. The series is comprised of the following two sub-series:
Sub-series I. Correspondence Files, 1973-1992, contains correspondence relating to the health issues of livestock, poultry and other animals. The sub-series is divided into the three following sub-sub-series:
Sub-sub-series A. Correspondence arranged alphabetically by South Carolina counties and chronologically within each folder.
Sub-sub-series B. General correspondence which is arranged chronologically within each folder.
Sub-sub-series C. Correspondence arranged in alphabetical order by letters of the alphabet with particular persons or subjects highlighted under each letter, e.g., animal research and Milton B. Wise. The files are arranged chronologically within each folder.
Sub-series II. Subject Files, 1947, 1979-1994, contains the general files relating to the Department of Animal Pathology. Major topics include Animal Research Committee, animal science, biotechnology, dairy science, as well as information pertaining to the restructuring of Public Service Activities and the meeting minutes of the Department Heads of the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The files are arranged alphabetically by subject and then chronologically within each folder.
Photographs in the series cover such veterinary topics such as livestock diseases, equipment
and procedures. In addition, there are photographs of personnel in the Clemson University Livestock and Poultry Health Department and R.E. Wright, an associate professor and professor of Animal Pathology. Also included are photographs of a dairy milking system and meat processing plants.
There are no restrictions on the use of this collection except those folders marked "Restricted Access." These files have been segregated in a box at the end of this series.
Letter headings of correspondence found in the series indicate that R.E. Wright was located in the Department of Dairy Science. Listings of academic staff filed in Series 337, Vice President and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, accession number 00-123, confirm that R.E. Wright was an associate professor and professor of Animal Pathology in the Department of Dairy Science from 1975-1991.
The department was administered by the College of Agricultural Sciences.
