Scope and Contents

A 15 legal length page type written historical drama script. The script tells the story of the first meeting between Thomas Green Clemson and Benjamin R. Tillman. The narrative takes place in the Clemson home during Tillman's first visit and formal introduction to Thomas Green Clemson and their discussion of the importance of an agricultural colege. Throughout their conversation Clemson recollects important events in his life to that point. He recalls meeting his wife, Anna. He tells the story of finding out South Carolina had seceeded from the Union and his subsequent flight from Maryland to join the Southern war effort. Finally he tells of the passing of his two children and wife in quick succession.
