The color guard from Fort Jackson, S.C., steps smartly by the reviewing stand during the Veteran's Day parade honoring Fort Jackson's 50th Anniversary on 11 November 67. Resor, Secretary of the Army, addresses the audience during a luncheon honoring Fort Jackson's 50th Anniversary on 11 November He told the guests at the Officers' Open Mess at Fort Jackson: 'For all you have done to help us in the achievement of our efforts, I thank you. I thank you not just on behalf of the soldiers in our army today, but for all the more than 5 million officers and men who have passed through Fort Jackson in these 50 years. Your efforts can be felt throughout the world where ever soldiers of the United States stand guard or fight for freedom throughout the world.'
