Hugh Bryan Hester served as an officer in the United States Army from 1917-1951. He saw active duty during the First and Second World Wars. Upon retirement, he became a frequent critic of American foreign policy and an advocate of peace. This collection was given by Hester and his niece, Mrs. Katherine Watson, between 1982 and 1984.
This oral history interview transcription contains the reminiscences of Major General Jones E. Bolt about his career in the United States Army, 1942-1973. General Bolt, a native of South Carolina and a 1938 graduate of Clemson College, flew combat missions in Europe and, later, in Southeast Asia. He received numerous military decorations and awards for his service. Included with the interview is a biographical sketch of General Bolt, a table of contents, and a glossary of names.
During the Vietnam conflict, Randolph Scott kept an audio journal along with a sporadic written correspondence to his family that documented his experiences while serving with the United States Armed Forces.
