Moise regarding their status as a state group or as an independent and private club which would offer its services to the state if needed.

Voting tickets from 1872 and 1876. There is a fake Union Republic ticket for 1876 which lists the Democratic candidates. Two Republican tickets for South Carolina, headed by Franklin J. Moses, Jr., candidate for Governor, 1872-1874; also Union Republican tickets, headed by Rutherford B. Hayes for President. Samuel J. Tilden was the Democratic candidate for President; the fake Union Republican ticket shows Tilden for President.
