The Poe Family Papers document the lives of H. T. (Harris Tinker, or "Hal") Poe; his son, Harry Tinker Poe, Jr.; and his daughter, Isadora R. Poe. H. T. Poe (1856-1931) played an important role in the development of Greenville, SC because of his involvement in the city's public utilities, such as the Paris Mountain Water Company, the Greenville Gas and Electric Light and Power Company, and the Greenville Traction Company (the city's first street railway).
