This collection consists of two DVD's. The interview was conducted by Dr. Jerry Reel at the home of Mr. Cameron in Cashiers, North Carolina in 2008.
This series contains the documents and recordings produced by University Relations. The recordings are divided into two categories: sound and video. The collection consists of photographs, his military service record, newspaper clippings, a transcript, and four artifacts which include his service awards. Most of the photographs were taken on Tinian, where Colman was stationed with the 40th Bombardment Squadron (Very Heavy), 6th Bombardment Group in 1945. The Papers can be used to research U.S. military life on Tinian during World War II.
This material was collected by Cassie Connor, longtime secretary of James F. Byrnes, which gives additional insight into the work of the former Senator, advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Supreme Court Justice, Secretary of State under President Harry Truman, and Governor of South Carolina.
The Albert M. George Papers provide information about the experience of being an American prisoner of the Japanese during World War II. George was a member of the 101st Field Artillery, Philippine Army and was captured when Bataan fell in 1942.
The collection contains a journal dating from 1945-1947 which includes a brief account of his time as a prisoner of war. It also has clippings containing biographical information relating to George from the period 1949-2002.
