The collection consists of photographs, his military service record, newspaper clippings, a transcript, and four artifacts which include his service awards. Most of the photographs were taken on Tinian, where Colman was stationed with the 40th Bombardment Squadron (Very Heavy), 6th Bombardment Group in 1945. The Papers can be used to research U.S. military life on Tinian during World War II.

Materials include addresses, articles, brochures, invitations, listings and programs. Several commencement addresses are filed in this series, as well as some brochures concerning charges to graduating classes. Also included are some programs from baccalaureate services, as well as an article describing Clemson College's first graduation in 1896.

This collection consists mainly of papers relating to the activities of the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools. The Conference is the successor to the Conference of Deans of Southern Graduate Schools that had operated from 1925-1963. The purpose of the Conference is to consider the mutual problems among its member institutions relating to graduate study and research.
